Weissmann Petition Process Moves to New Phase

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Mario Nicolais, attorney for Republican congressional candidate Eric Weissmann, today issued the following statement upon being notified that the Secretary of State's office has initially validated an insufficient number of signatures to secure a position on the primary ballot, due to a clerical error:

"This afternoon, we learned that the Secretary of State was invalidating a large number of the Eric Weissmann campaign's ballot access petitions due to small but systematic errors in the notarization process. We will appeal the Secretary of State's invalidation to the Denver District Court. While these clerical errors are unfortunate, Colorado case law gives us considerable comfort that the campaign's petition submissions will be ruled substantially compliant with Colorado law."
