(Louisville, CO) – Eric Weissmann, newly announced candidate for Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District and one-time contributor to Jared Polis, today asked for his money back from Polis.
"We've actually been friends going back many years," Weissmann said in addressing supporters as he launched his campaign today. "I even gave him $1,000 in his first primary election. Now before my Republican friends here have an aneurism, let me point out it was a primary, there wasn't even a Republican in the race, and my support for GOP candidates has been unwavering.
"But Polis spoke as though he understood the principles of liberty and the free market. He promised to be a new kind of Democrat. But here's what I didn’t know -- that the new kind of Democrat was going to be even worse than the old kind. ObamaCare. Stimulus. Auto bailouts. Cap and Trade. And the list goes on and on.
"So Congressman -- when you watch this on YouTube -- pay attention to this: you have let me down. You broke your promise to be pro-market, and you do not embody the pro-liberty values you led me to believe we shared. You have put the interests of your political party first. Jared: I – WANT – MY – THOUSAND – DOLLARS – BACK – NOW!"
Colorado's new Second Congressional District includes all of Larimer, Broomfield, Grand, Gilpin, Clear Creek and Summit counties and parts of Boulder, Jefferson, Park and Eagle counties.
