(Boulder, CO) – Eric Weissmann, candidate for Congress in Colorado's 2nd Congressional District, Monday signed a pledge to the voters of Colorado and the American people that if elected to Congress he would vote to permanently repeal the federal tax on estates and gifts.
"People spend their lives working hard, paying their taxes on income, property and investments. The federal estate and gift tax punishes small businesses, family farms and individuals who work hard. The tax discourages savings by taxing death," said Weissmann.
"I am glad to join other common sense leaders who believe that we should foster the American dream rather than punish it," said Weissmann. "Repealing the federal estate and gift tax would be an important step in encouraging Americans to save not only for their own future but for future generations."
